When to get a dental filling done?
When a tooth/teeth has dental caries or dental decay.
Why to get a dental filling done?
If filling is not done in tooth, decay will spread to deeper layers of tooth and may cause severe dental pain, infection and eventually loss of tooth.
What is dental decay or dental caries?
Dental caries or dental decay is destruction of tooth structure which develops into tiny openings or holes.
What can happen if we don’t get the cavity treated?
The decay in tooth if left untreated will grow deeper and can cause pain, food lodgement, bad smell or even fracture of tooth. When the cavity is not deep it can be treated with filling/restoration, the same cavity if left untreated will grow deep and if infects nerve it can cause terrible pain, then Root Canal Treatment is required to save the tooth and get rid of pain.
What are symptoms for dental caries or dental decay?
1. Black or brown stain on tooth.
2. Food lodgement in tooth or between two teeth.
3. Visible holes in tooth.
4. Pain while having food.
5. Sensitivity on having hot, cold, sweet food and drinks.
What materials are used to do dental fillings?
Composites or Glass Ionomer Cements can be used for dental fillings.

When to get teeth cleaned or scaling done?
1. When one has bleeding in gums while brushing.
2. When one has bad breath or foul smell.
3. When one has swollen gums.
4. When one has receding gums.
5. When one has staining on teeth
What can happen if I don’t get the teeth cleaned?
Deposition of plaque and tartar around the gumline can cause inflammation of gums. Plaque and tartar become storehouse for bacteria and food deposition which may further lead to inflammation and gum disease which might eventually cause loss of teeth.
Is dental cleaning a painless procedure?
Yes, scaling and polishing of teeth are painless procedure.
How often do I need to get my teeth cleaned?
Depending on the oral hygiene status of your mouth, cleaning of teeth can be done in every 6 to 9 months.

In digital xray patients patients are exposed to very less radiation as compare to conventional ones. Digital x-rays are more accurate and can be processed immediately so no more waiting for the reports to be delivered.
